The SHINE Centre serves as a specialist resource base dedicated to supporting children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Situated within The Winstanley School and Kingsway Primary School, the centre benefits from a unique partnership within Leicestershire. By working collaboratively with both schools, The SHINE Centre is able to provide exceptional learning opportunities tailored to the needs of every student. The centre’s philosophy is firmly rooted in trauma-informed practice, ensuring that the environment is nurturing and supportive, enabling all learners to flourish and reach their potential.
Designed to accommodate up to 30 primary and secondary pupils from key stage 1-4, the SHINE Centre is committed to innovative, high-quality teaching and therapeutic interventions. The curriculum is personalised to reignite each student’s interest in learning and foster enthusiasm, with a holistic support package in place to encourage personal development.
All students attending The SHINE Centre have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) for SEMH needs. The provision is staffed by experienced professionals, including teachers, instructors, teaching assistants, wellbeing practitioners, and a counsellor, all skilled in supporting children with SEMH requirements.
