Psychology Teacher
Required from August 2026
ECT/MPS/UPS
Permanent
Full Time
The Psychology department is part of a thriving Humanities faculty that prides itself on outstanding teaching and care for students. The vision of the department is to provide students with a well-structured, varied, engaging and sophisticated Psychology curriculum which will allow them to learn more about the human mind, body and behaviour in the real world. The specialist teachers in the department work closely together to ensure the Psychology curriculum achieves this vision and is always inspirational, challenging and accessible for all students. We are a department who have a passion for Psychology, which we instill in our students. We are looking for a teacher who shares this vision and wants Psychology to be at the very heart of Ashby School.
Psychology is a popular subject which is taught at both GCSE and A level. We have 90 students taking it at GCSE and 128 students studying it at A level. The students study the AQA specification at both GCSE and A level, where the options of Relationships, Schizophrenia and Aggression are taught in Year 13. Outcomes at A Level are strong with a significant proportion of the cohort choosing to study the subject at the University.
Psychology is part of our humanities faculty, with the department working closely alongside specialists in History, RE, Geography & Business. To this end, candidates must be willing to teach outside of their specialism at Key Stage 3 including through the delivery of Religious Studies, History and Geography. Our Humanities faculty is housed in a suite of rooms equipped with projectors and with access to ICT facilities. The faculty also has admin support and dedicated work areas. We are also especially interested in candidates who can add to our broader curriculum delivery such as in Business, Health & Social Care and the Extended Project Qualification.
As teachers we recognise the need for consistently high standards of pedagogy that offers structure, scaffolding and support without limiting brilliance. If you share this vision, have a passion for Psychology and want to be part of a team who go the extra mile for students, we would very much like to meet you.
The post offers an exceptional opportunity for either an experienced teacher looking for a new challenge, or an individual new to the profession seeking to grow their pedagogy in a student and staff centred Academy. We offer an excellent Continued Professional Development programme within a supportive environment and are committed to continuous improvement in both teaching and learning.
